Claus Freudenstein invented the mini bass in 2003. The first double bass especially for children from 5 years. The fully carved instrument is handmade by a masterluthier of solid wood in Bavaria and perfectly adjusted to the child's hand. The "Freudenstein-Minibass" inspires teachers and children all over the world with its easy playability and its full, voluminous sound. The mini bass is available in the sizes 1/16th (70 cm stringlength) and 1/8th (80cm) in different colors. Of course we also have matching bows and bags.

Over the years, Claus Freudenstein developed his own teaching method based on singing and his experience on teaching many years children in very young ages. A number of the pieces arranged and composed by Freudenstein are published in the book "Minibass" (Friedrich-Hofmeister-Musikverlag).

Consistently working on the distribution of double bass music, Freudenstein founded the ensemble "The Bassmonsters" and is the organizer of the "Bayerische Basstage" festival.
