Guided hearing for ensemble work
11/1/19 | 4:30 PM – 5:00 PM time
Christoph Breithack (graduate orchestra musician, conductor and music teacher)
Guided hearing is a rehearsal educational system that can be used for ensembles of all levels. It is an effective tool for assessing and influencing ensemble sound and musical expression. Guided Listening was developed for wind orchestras. The ensemble-related principles, however, apply to groups of any instrumentation as well as to choirs. The conductor enables guided listening to capture the sound in detail and to react to it with an understandable methodology. Guided Hearing gives musicians a clear understanding of their own role and the musical function in the ensemble.
